Fast Multiplication Tricks – Short Cut method – Vedic Maths tricks

Fast Multiplication Tricks – Short Cut method – Vedic Maths tricks. Hi guys, in my previous article of Multiplication tricks we have discussed multiplication of 2-digit numerals out of which one numeral can be any 2-digit numeral & other ones should be in the range of 11-14. Now we will discuss 2-digit numerals in which both the numerals are close to 100(but also less than 100).

Example and steps for Fast Multiplication Tricks – Short Cut method – Vedic Maths tricks

To understand that, let us take an example:

1) 96*90

Steps to be followed:

Step 1Subtract 100 from both the numerals, so after doing that we’ll get -4 and -10.
Step 2: Then write them as depicted in the below:
                 96         -4
                 90        -10
Step 3: Now cross add or subtract them as per their signs( both of these operations must yield the same result so that you can choose any one of them) and by doing this you will form first two digits of the result.

Step 4: Now multiply both the digit (with their signs) that you have subtracted in Steps 1 from hundred.so this will form the second part of your answer.
Step 5: Now combine both the parts i.e. 8690. This is our final result

what if the multiplication generates a carry:

so to understand that let’s take another example.
2) 85*86
Step 1Subtract 100 from both the numerals, so after doing that we’ll get -15 and -14
.
Step 2: Then write them as depicted in the below:
                 85         -15
                 86        -14
Step 3: Now cross add or subtract them as per their signs

Step 4: Now multiply both the digit (with their signs) that you have subtracted in Steps 1 from hundred.so this should form the second part of our answer but it contains 3 digits which is not possible that means its first digit is a carry and we have to add it to the first part to reach the answer.

Step 5: So add the carry to first part (71+2=73)and you will have 7310 as an answer.

We will keep on learning many more tricks and if you have any doubt then feel free to ask.
